Lovely place, proper food, proper drinks, great service, fair prices...and, until recently they had no WiFi at all, which was really very nice - a sign on the wall which which read: "We have no WiFi- pretend it's the nineties and talk to each other!" which made me laugh lots...sadly, the sign is gone now and they have given in to this crass new century whereby we MUST have digital connectivity at all times...Still a very good pub, though! Nice to sit outside by the water in warm weather and see kingfishers darting by, or indoors keeping warm by the fire in colder times...still a top notch pub!

Stayed for one night over this weekend and was the perfect getaway! Rooms are so lovely, clean and have the comfiest beds going! Also bonus points for the incredible view of the river from our room. Staff are so lovely and provide 10/10 service. We had dinner on our first evening which was incredible, breakfest the next morning and a Sunday lunch which was insane! Definitely recommend if you are in the area or need somewhere to stay!

What an awesome place, beautiful location, brilliant bar, comfortable and well equipped bedrooms, super comfy matttess and pillows, the owner and staff are amazing and really friendly and couldn't do more for you. I got a flat tyre as we left, and they opened the bar area for us wait, made us tea, and we stayed and had the most unexpected and fabulous food, virtually michellin standard. Thank you team Watermans arms, you really made our short stay absolutely fabulous, totally smashed all expectations. Highly recommend for a stay, for a drink or for food, definitely have food you won't be disappointed ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Stayed here with my family (7 adults, 2 children, 2 dogs) for 1 night whilst visiting the Polar Express Attraction nearby and also to celebrate a 60th birthday. Can't speak highly enough of the pub and the hotel annex, food was so tasty and such high quality, staff couldn't do enough for us and were very attentive, our dog friendly room was comfortable, clean and well furnished. Top marks to this place, keep doing what you are doing, would definitely stay here again if in the area

We both know Paul & Gayle from their time at the Ladies Mile pub in Patcham Brighton so we didn't hesitate when the opportunity to visit them at their new adventure the Watermans Arms. As we crossed the stone bridge to park alongside the river there was a huge 'wow' factor, the pub/hotel/restaurant & setting was as stunning as the welcoming was warm & friendly. Our room/bathroom was lovely & comfortable & just like the 'Mile' the choice of ales/drinks & food was really 1st class. We certainly enjoyed our two night stay & will look forward to another visit in the spring.

What a brilliant stay at The Watermans Arms near Totnes. The pub has a real heart to it, and a huge part of that is down to the fantastic new landlord/landlady team — welcoming, attentive, and genuinely invested in making everyone feel at home. It’s also a gorgeous setting: tucked beside the historic bridge with the babbling river right alongside, it has that rare, peaceful feel that makes you instantly unwind. The food was excellent : beautifully cooked and well presented. The rooms were comfortable and warm, spotless, and incredibly welcoming — the sort of place you actually relax the moment you walk in. Breakfast was a real highlight too: generous, fresh, and exactly what you want to start the day. If you’re anywhere near Totnes and want great food, a warm atmosphere, and a comfortable night’s stay in a stunning spot, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it. We’ll definitely be back.

We visited The Watermans on the way to visit family and what a huge treat it was. Not only did we have a wonderful welcome from Paul and Gayle (the owners) but also a roaring fire and a dinner that was truly tasty. The breakfast the next day was also incredible and set us up for the day. It’s a fantastic spot and so easy to visit so many places locally. It was so lovely that we decided to pop back to try the roast on the way home Sunday and it did not disappoint! I wouldn’t hesitate to visit!

We absolutely loved our stay here! We stayed as two families of four the night before visiting the Polar Express and genuinely didn’t want to leave. The pub, hotel, new landlords, and all the staff were fantastic, so welcoming and friendly throughout our stay. We also loved meeting Wilf, the cute little lab puppy! This is the prettiest traditional pub with such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. We enjoyed a delicious evening meal and breakfast, and our rooms were spotlessly clean, warm, and so comfortable with the comfiest beds. We’re really hoping to return in the summer to make the most of the lush riverside beer garden. Thank you so much for such a wonderful stay, the new management have done an amazing job with this stunning hidden gem of a pub and hotel!
